The theme of sexuality within shamanism is rarely discussed, encouraged or taught, despite the vital role it can play in unlocking deeper aspects of the work, creating an uncommon level of well-being and a communing with life in the most profound of fashions and forms.
Within certain shamanic traditions it is known that the sexual centre of the universe is the Earth and furthermore, the sexual centre of the Earth is the human being. This workshop explores this knowing, specifically drawing upon the rich body of teachings from the Path of Pollen, the shamanic tradition which works with the honey-bee and the hive in an alchemical-sexual formula, known as The Serpent Flight of The Honey-Bee.
Within this tradition women and men are considered to be of equal metaphysical status, with the emphasis on co-empowerment rather than co-dependency. The Grail - The Chalice - The Creatrix - The Hive - The Flower - The Life Givers and Life Bringers: Woman is seen as a bodily manifestation of all of these things and within this tradition she identifies with specific divine female role models, through which is awakened her innate divinity; free from shame and fear, fully empowered and openly rejoicing in their femaleness. The male energy is solar-phallic; the blast of lightning, the sting of venom, the priapic, forest-dwelling horned Pan, Guardian of the Animals and keeper of the sacred fires who knows the mystery of being both hunter and hunted. He is also the Magician and King, where magic and courtly love are tempered with the primal urge which commenced with the Big Bang.
The Path of Pollen holds a focus of work on ‘endocrine alchemy’, being a rejuvenative programme that draws upon the intelligence and wisdom of the body-vessel and stimulates the interior stars and hidden veins within the subtle-body, liberating and circulating psycho-sexual elixirs known as ‘nektars’ which are utilised for shamanic practices including healing, visioning, shamanic flight and the lost art of shape-shifting. Other work involves circle-ceremonies, ritual gestures and dances of infinite flight, breathing exercises,dream-work and other techniques to harness the powerful psycho-physical energies which course through the body and reach fruition through polarisation and appropriate mystical exchanges, ever moving in honeyed circuits of force.

The Way of the Melissae is a well-trodden path for distaff members of the European shamanic tradition known as The Path of Pollen. This workshop offers a rare opportunity to work directly with women from The Path of Pollen who will be sharing teachings that have traditionally been passed down ‘from mouth to ear’. Central to the tradition is the magical formula known as Six-Hex-Sex which is embodied and expressed by the Melissae in her role as Priestess and as Pythoness – a specific oracular mode of magnetic trance – and training in the veiled ways of the Priestess and Pythoness will be emphasised during this teaching event.
The Melissae utilise little-known arcane methodologies to move into limenal zones, in-between places of ‘neither-niether’ – where the three-fold structure of sisterhood ‘cells’ can be encountered and its denizens met, namely the Sisterhood of the Spinners, the Sisterhood of the Wise Maidens and the Sisterhood of the Fey. Each of these sisterhoods holds a particular body of teaching, orientated towards encouraging the student to become both the flower, the flow-er and the pollinator of honeyed wisdoms. Participants will also be introduced to the apis-codex, being a guide to living the fullest of lives in accordance with the Path of Pollen. Men will be our guests and 'clients' for one night of our work, during which time they will be the recipients of the healing honey-flow that will have been gathered, to then be released.

Arte Triptych Melissae is a private, three-part training for women in the ways of the distaff members of The Path of Pollen, the Melissae. The Melissae draw their inspiration from a different spring than most: it is an arcane discipline, a vein, an underground working – difficult to trace but easy to recognise once encountered. The training itself is imparted in three folds, each educating the participant in the ways and wiles of one of the three sisterhoods associated with the Pollen Way. Here, specific meditations and ceremonial practices that revolve around the Lemniscatic Volatus – the Dance of Infinite Flight - are imparted and utilised to move between worlds and step outside and beyond the circles of time. Student will be stretched so that they might reach through the surface of the tradition, accessing practical applications of the work to be applied to themselves and others. Within these practices and accompanying ceremonial work and ritual action, a path is laid leading to physical and metaphysical health and simultaneously a pilgrimage is made towards a vital and radiant life and the tableaux of honey and sting.
This training is being led by the Educational Director of The Sacred Trust, Naomi Lewis and her colleague from The Path of Pollen, Kate Shela.
